Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre have established good relationships with other animal welfare organisations that are without kennel facilities and offer ‘foster’ housing for dogs on their behalf or accommodate their overflow; namely
- F.A.W – Fisantakraal Animal Welfare
- A.R.T – Animal Rescue Team
- WCS Husky Rescue
Uitsig is also known to be approached to take in “death row” animals from other Centre’s to buy them time to find new homes. The area covered by the Centre extends from Fisantekraal to Kraaifontein, Brackenfell, Durbanville, Bloekombos and Lutzville.
However, to uphold the commitment of the Centre is to be open to whoever contacts us requesting assistance; if we are in the situation to help, we do. We receive ‘phone calls daily to go and fetch the dogs that for numerous reasons require our intervention.
Uitsig Animal Rescue also works closely with the Animal Anti Cruelty League (both branches) and the Lucky Lucy Foundation.
Due to our close proximity to the Fisantekraal township we are available for ‘call-outs’ to serve the public should any animal require veterinary care. We also board the township dogs that need extra ‘t.l.c’ before returning them to their homes.
Besides the daily rescuing, care and rehabilitation, we work towards addressing the underlying problem on a broader scale through education and sterilisation programs that we run on our own or in collaboration with other welfare organizations. We share the common goal to reduce the number of unwanted domestic animals in our area and educate people to help us in this by voluntarily having their pets sterilised, as well as teaching proper care of and humane behavior around animals.
