PLEASE READ THROUGH CAREFULLY BEFORE TAKING YOUR ANIMAL HOME:

It is hereby certified that in the event of this application being approved, the above mentioned applicant has adopted an Animal from Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre subject to the following conditions:

  1. Should the animal fall ill within 7 days of adoption with a deadly infectious disease (parvovirus/distemper/etc.), please notify Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre immediately. The animal will be taken to OUR VETS, if you do not want the animal to be diagnosed by one of our VETS we cannot take liability for the account as we have a fee structure with our approved vets. If the vet confirms that the dog fell ill as a result of its stay at the Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre, Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre undertakes to pay the account within reason, should you not be able to do so yourself.  The applicant understands that Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre cannot be held responsible for any medical expenditure occurring after the animal/s has/have been off the premises of the sanctuary for 7 days or more. But the applicant is free to contact us for medical advice.
  2. The applicant undertakes to care for, love and make part of the family their new Animal. They promise to make sure the animal/s is/are comfortable with suitable shelter and that fresh food and water is provided at least once per day.
  3. The applicant undertakes to keep the new Animal properly enclosed for a timeframe as long as may be required for the new companion to become accustomed to its new surroundings – the time frame for such enclosure may vary from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, depending on each Animal.
  4. The applicant undertakes to provide the pet with positive identification AND a contact telephone number IMMEDIATELY after adopting the new pet – such identification should at least entail a collar and name tag suitably fitted to the pet, whilst tattooing and/or micro-chipping would be preferable as additional methods of identification.
  5. The applicant understands that the animal/s MAY NOT be chained or fastened under any circumstances and must be allowed full access to the available property/yard.
  6. The applicant undertakes to fully and yearly vaccinate the adopted animal.
  7. The applicant undertakes to sterilise the adopted animal at 6 months of age. Should the applicant adopt an un-sterilised older animal, arrangements will be made to sterilise the animal as soon as possible.
  8. Should the applicant wish to use their own vet, proof of sterilization needs to be faxed through to Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre on request.
  9. If for any reason, the applicant decides that he/she no longer wants the animal/s, the animal/s will be returned to Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre. The animal/s will not be placed in a new home without the permission of Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre

Please keep this copy in case your rescue ever goes missing or if you pick up a stray animal:

  1. Advertise on Gumtree – Remember to list the sex of the dog / cat and which are it went missing or was found in. Gumtree removes the advertisement after 30 days, so please remember to renew your advertisement on a monthly basis www.gumtree.co.za PETS – Lost and Found
  1. Make Posters of the dog / cat and put them up in the area the dog / cat went missing or was found:

  • Date missing
  • Sex of animal
  • Age
  • Area Missing or found in
  • Contact telephone numbers
  • Any distinctive description (color collar, microchipped, markings etc)
  1. Contact your local VETS in your area and report your pet being missing or the pet that you have found.
